A woman who worried mother and brother on a plane on the eve of the Sept. 11 attacks warning convey a false threat to bomb the airport on Arizona in the hope the authorities will land the plane, prosecutors said on Tuesday (13/09/2011).
Mary Purcell (37) caught by the FBI at his home in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, on Monday (9/12/2011), said federal prosecutors in Brooklyn. He was prosecuted because he was on the phone has delivered a false threat and faces up to 10 years in prison.
Tucson Airport Police received two notifications over the phone on Sept. 10 from a woman who said that he “happened to have heard the” girlfriend talks to others about the threat against a Southwest Airlines flight destination Albuquerque, New Mexico, according to a statement that disclosed in federal court Brooklyn.
The airport officials call the bomb squad unit and notify the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The plane was checked by deploying a bomb sniffer dogs, but did not find anything and still fly the plane 15 minutes late though.
FBI track down the phone line it up to Long Island, New York. The phone number is registered in the name of Margaret Meyer, who was scheduled to fly on that plane with his son, William Meyer.
Purcell, who was at home, initially told police that she had called to ask why the plane was delayed, but later he admitted delivering the fake threat, said a police statement. According to police reports, Purcell motive was that he “did not want to brother and mother flew right on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks”.
